Environmental health - trading standards

The main aim of Trading Standards is to protect the interests of consumers and businesses in the West Lothian Council area. We do this by enforcing a range of consumer related legislation through inspection of trade premises, testing equipment, sampling goods and investigating complaints. In addition, we provide advice and information to consumers and businesses. We also serve as an information source for other agencies, such as the Office of Fair Trading and for this purpose, information is held about unfair trading practices.
