Achievements

One of the Energy Conservation Unit's main aims is to reduce costs for West Lothian Council and improve the quality of the local environment. Below, are various instances in which progress has been made within different areas of West Lothian as well as other achievements.

West Lothian Council Consumption Savings

In 2001-2002, carbon dioxide emission savings of 399,573 kg were achieved. This equated to total financial savings of £13,253. This is equivalent to:

  • Travelling 671,985 miles in a car using petrol at 30 miles per gallon
  • The power used by 7,696 televisions in normal use per year
  • The annual cooking requirements for 1,713 households.
