New Energy

Although there are many different sources of renewable energy, the one thing they all have in common is that they produce energy from sources which are not dependent on limited reserves of fossil fuels. They all produce energy from the endless earth supplies generated by the sun, including wind and waves.

Solar Power

Solar energy is safe, pollution-free, efficient and of limitless supply. Unfortunately, it is expensive to construct solar 'stations' although many individual homes have had solar panels added, especially in climates that are warmer and sunnier than in Britain. It is hoped, globally, that future improvements in technology will result in reduced production costs.

Wind Power

Wind turbines operate by producing mechanical power from the energy present in wind. Wind power is one source of renewable energy which helps to reduce electricity bills and decrease our contributions to global warming.

Wave Power

Ocean waves are capable of transferring a tremendous amount of energy. When the wind hits the water, it transfers massive amounts of potential energy to the water. The best way to capture some of this energy is the oscillating water column (OWC). The environmental implications of such 'offshore' devices however, require careful consideration before final development permission is granted.

Water Power

Water power is power derived from the fall of water from a higher to lower level, and extracted by the passing of this falling water through turbines. This kind of power, is commonly known as Hydro-electric power. Although the production of hydro-electricity is perceived as 'clean', it can still have very damaging effects upon the environment.
