Pollution - water

 

Responsibility for water quality and poltion is shared between West Lothian Council and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).  West Lothian Council deals with:

  • Drinking Water Quality (Environmental Health in conjunction with Scottish Water)
  • Private Water Supplies (where water is supplied by other than Scottish Water) (Environmental Health)
  • Burst and Blocked sewers (Environmental Health in conjunction with Scottish Water)
  • Blue Green Algae (Cyanobacteria) (Environmental Health in Conjunction with SEPA)
  • Unidentified water (source not known) (Environmental Health)
  • Flooding (Environmental Health  and Flood Prevention)
