Pollution control - water
Responsibility for water quality and poltion is shared between West Lothian Council and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).
West Lothian Council deals with:
- Private Water Supplies (where water is supplied by other than Scottish Water) (Environmental Health)
- Burst and Blocked sewers (Environmental Health in conjunction with Scottish Water)
- Blue Green Algae (Cyanobacteria) (Environmental Health in Conjunction with SEPA)
- Unidentified water (source not known) (Environmental Health)
SEPA deals with:
- Contaminated watercourses
- Industrial Discharges to water
- Sewage Treatment
- Flood management
