Dial-A-Ride, Dial-A-Bus & Connect 400 Services
These are Community Transport Services which are available to those unable to use mainstream bus services, and are operated by HcL (formerly Handicabs) on behalf of West Lothian Council.
Dial-A-Ride is a door through door transport service for people with limited mobility who are unable to use public bus services and is available seven days a week. The bus will pick you up at your home and transport you to your chosen location. It is advisable to book in advance but you can try for bookings on the same day or the day ahead although the availability of these bookings is subject to demand.
Dial-A-Bus is a door to door shopping service which connects people with the shopping centres of Livingston, Bathgate and Linlithgow. The service is designed for older people and people with limited mobility who cannot use mainstream bus services. The bus will pick you up at your home and will set you down at the shopping centre. You will have between 1 and 2 hours to do your shopping and then the service returns you to your home. The driver will take you and your shopping to your door if you need help.
Connect 400 is a feeder transport service for people with limited mobility which allows them access and connection to the 400/X400 bus service. The 400/X400 bus service runs hourly from St.John's Hospital in Livingston to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and is operated by E & M Horsburgh Limited. Journeys on the Connect 400 must be booked at least one day before you plan to travel. HcL can advise you of the 400/X400 timetable and will arrange to pick you up from your home and transport you to St.John's Hospital where a connection can be made with the service to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
