Education in hospital
Young people of a school age may be unable to attend school for a variety of reasons including illness, accidents or chronic, long term medical conditions. This population of children who are absent from school will include those who have a single prolonged block of absence and those who have several or many periods of varying lengths. Normally, all will be receiving medical attention of some kind and should be known to child health services as well as to their schools and education authorities.
West Lothian provides a range of services to support the additional needs of young people who are absent from school through ill health.
