Young Writer of the Year Awards 2013
Knightsridge Primary School pupil Jolene Beveridge has been named this year's West Lothian Young Writer of the year. Jolene beat off almost 8,000 entries to win the prestigious title with her poem entitled "To a Dug".
Organised by Library & Heritage Services, the annual Young Writer competition has been running for 38 years and aims to encourage creative writing and also promote reading and reward effort.
More than 250 guests attended the sparkling Awards ceremony at Howden Park Centre on 13th June to see Jolene and 39 other prize winners receive their awards.
Pupils from Livingston Village Primary School acted as hosts for the evening and their school choir also performed during the evening and kept the audience entertained with their wonderful singing.
The young writers' work is published in a special booklet and is available from any library in West Lothian, or click here to read a copy.
