Sandy Acamovic has been appointed the new police inspector based at Broxburn

War Memorial Steering Group

The next meeting of a steering group, set up to progress proposals to create an outdoor memorial to Broxburn and Uphall's war heroes, takes place in Uphall Community Centre on Thursday, 16 October, at 6.30pm.

The group is keen to get local primary schools involved in suggesting a design and location.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend the meeting.

Band's Christmas concert

Broxburn and Livingston Brass Band are holding their Christmas concert  at the Strathbrock Partnership Centre from 7pm on Sunday 14 December.

Tickets, costing £5 or £3 for concessions, are available from band members, from band secretary Jan McDougall 01506 433151 or on the door.

Major charity event scheduled for Broxburn

This year's annual Miss West Lothian charity event will take place in the Club, Greendykes Road, on Wednesday 3 December.

It is the first time in the event's 14-year history that it has been held in Broxburn.

Road closed for three weekends for bridge inspection

The B8046 Station Road, Uphall Station, will be closed for three weekends from Saturday 1 November, to allow the M8 bridge to be inspected and a structural survey carried out.

The road will close from 7am on 1 November to 6pm on Sunday 2 November and for similar times on the weekends of 8 and 15 November.

Shuttle buses will be provided and diversions signposted.

Pedestrians will be unaffected.

Sensory open day

A special sensory open day for people with visual and hearing impairments will be held in the main hall of Strathbrock Partnership Centre on Wednesday 22 October between 10am and 3.30pm.

People with visual and hearing impairments and their families are invited to attend.

The aim of the day is to demonstrate the services and support available in West Lothian for people with sight and hearing difficulties.

Volunteers wanted for race forum

Volunteers from all walks of life are wanted to have their say in promoting understanding and diversity in West Lothian.

The West Lothian Community Planning Partnership is looking for members for a community race forum in West Lothian.
