Staff from the RBS helped paint the Power Station at Linlithgow as part of the first stage of refurbishment

Bank volunteers help refurbish Power Station

A group of volunteers from the Royal Bank of Scotland forgot the credit crunch for a day to help Linlithgow Young People's Project refurbish the Power Station facility in the town.

The volunteers donned overalls and t-shirts and set about decorating the premises.

The refurbishment is just the first phase of the upgrade to the Power Station.

Future plans include the setting up of a cafe for young people.

Real nappy project

A group for parents interested in using real nappies on their babies meets at Linlithgow.

Nappuccino  - The Real Nappy Project - next meets at St Michael's Cross House, Linlithgow, from 11.30am on Monday, 27 October.

Parents can meet other real nappy parents and hear about the options and ways in which the Real Nappy Project can assist.

Although everyone is welcome to attend, trial packs and lending kits are only available to residents of the Lothians.

Police appeal to community for help

Police are urging members of the community, particularly the elderly, to be on their guard against bogus salespeople.

About 1.30pm on Saturday, 29 September, an elderly resident at The Vennel, High Street, was stopped outside his house by a male, who produced three jackets from a holdall offering them for sale at £100 each.

Even after further offers reducing the price, they offers were declined.

The resident describes the person offering the clothing as being male, tanned European, short receding hair, heavy, stout build, wearing a fawn jumper and black trousers and was in a black coloured car.

Allotments considered for Linlithgow

Steps are being taken to investigate the possibility of creating allotments in Linlithgow.

The move follows a request from Linlithgow and District Allotment Society (LADAS), who have asked West Lothian Council to look into the development of land for allotment use.

Councillor Martyn Day, who chairs the Linlithgow Local Area Committee, said: "In principal, we are supportive of an allotment site in Linlithgow and there is obviously a demand for it in the community.

"LADAS put forward their case very well and they clearly believe that allotments would benefit the environment and community.

"However, there are several issues that we must consider before taking the matter forward."

Linlithgow 10K race a great success

A wonderful day, a full house of 600 entrants and a beautiful course layout was enjoyed by all the participants and visitors alike for the annual Linlithgow 10k  race.

The event was organised by the Linlithgow Athletic Club, with Deacons Court members helping steward the race and man the refreshment points

The race started at the Sheriif Court and finished in Linlithgow Peel.

All visitors and runners enjoyed free toilet facilities provided by Pride and Passion, Linlithgow.

Can anyone help with Clarendon?

In cooperation with West Lothian College, a group of users at Clarendon Support Service, Linlithgow, are researching the history and various uses of Clarendon since it was first built in 1820.

The building was originally owned by the Richard family, was used to house evacuees during the war and was used as an older people?s home from 1952 to the 1980s.

It was also used as a council office for a short time in the early 1990s and for the last 15 years, has provided a service for adults with learning disabilities.
