Committee approves public house extension
West Lothian Council's development control committee has approved an extension to the Crown Inn at East Main Street to create a snooker hall.
A new lounge bar will also be provided in the refurbished public house, which is currently unoccupied.
Police issue warning over prescription drugs
Police are urging anyone offered prescription drugs not to accept them.
For strong painkilling medication, including morphine, was amongst items taken from a house in Seafield between midday and 7.30pm on July 21.
A police spokesman said: "Anyone who is offered the stolen medication should not take it, as it could prove dangerous if taken without a prescription. Instead they should contact police immediately."

Seafield ends round one of gala season in style
The first round of the West Lothian gala season ended in style at Seafield on Saturday, 5 July.
Villagers witnessed one of the biggest parades for years, with a large number of floats and marchers.
Traditionally, Seafield is the last gala in West Lothian. But this year, both Bridgend and Craigshill are holding galas in August.

Alcohol project focuses on Blackburn
The Community Action on Alcohol project is an innovative approach to tackling issues of alcohol concern within a community setting. The project is being funded by the Robertson Trust and managed through Alcohol Focus Scotland. It aims to engage with the community to raise awareness of responsible drinking and enable local groups to identify specific alcohol issues and needs and develop actions to address them.
The mapping process is being carried to provide the baselines for the project to be evaluated against. Once the results of the mapping process are completed a steering group will use the results to identify the priority issues and the actions needed.
Road closed for resurfacing work
The access road to St Joseph's Primary School, Whitburn, will be closed from 8am on Monday 21 July until 5pm on Friday 25 July.
This is to allow resurfacing work to be carried out.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the work.
Careers Scotland - out and about
Staff from Careers Scotland will be visiting Whitburn and Blackburn Libraries to provide information and advice on the variety of services they provide. No need to make an appointment - just pop in and speak to an adviser. Whitburn : Tues 22nd July, 1.00pm - 4.00pm and Blackburn : Thurs 24th July, 1.00pm - 4.00pm.
Sunday school teacher retires after 50 years
A West Lothian Sunday School teacher has retired after spending 50 years at the same church.
Ann McConnell received a certificate from the Church of Scotland in recognition of her 50 years service at Whitburn South Parish Church
Members of the congregation presented Ann with a cheque and flowers.
She also received a gift from pupils.+
Canvassing support at art group
The art group at Blackburn day centre are canvassing support for their latest venture.
They're holding an exhibition at Acredale House, Bathgate, in July.
It's only one of a number of places where the group has exhibited, including St John's Hospital and West Lothian House.
The group's work is proving popular with art lovers and just recently, three pieces of their art were snapped up by eager buyers.
As the group is non-profit making, money raised goes back to buying materials.
The group has also raised money for good causes by auctioning off their work.
