Counter fraud activities and sanctions

Sanctions Performance for 2011/2012
During 2011/2012, 42 benefit cheats in the West Lothian area faced a sanction as a result of committing benefit fraud.
- 23 claimants were reported to the Procurator Fiscal(PF); this figure includes DWP led joint cases.
- 12 claimants were offered and accepted an Administrative Penalty as an alternative to a prosecution.
- 7 claimants were offered and accepted an Administrative Caution as an alternative to a prosecution.
During 2011/2012, 8 cases were successfully prosecuted and found guilty of committing benefit fraud. To find out more about these cases click here.
