The law that governs the holding of processions was amended  on 1st April 2007.  The changes to the law require you to provide information in connection with notifications for parades/marches or events to be held on or after 28 April 2007.  The change in legislation requires the council take into consideration the effect of a parade on the community. The council has to have all relevant information to determine the application in terms of the amended legislation. 
To assist you in the organising of a parade etc. we have:

  • prepared a Guide for Organisers,
  • revised the notification form, and;
  • produced a standard risk assessment form

for completion by you the organiser of the event. 

A major revision allows for you to request to be added to an "Opt In" register in order that you may be advised of any parades/marches/galas being organised in their place(s) of interest.  If you do decide to Opt In please note that your details will be held on computer and used only for the purpose of notification of an event.
