West Lothian's Got Talent

 

Susan Boyle, picture courtesy of the West Lothian Herald & PostBlackburn resident, Susan, has captured the world's attention with her TV performance, and is the latest in a long line of star performers to hail from West Lothian.

Susan is not the first contestant from West Lothian to be on Britain's Got Talent, last year, singing plumber, Andrew Muir from Fauldhouse, who is currently working on an album.

Leon Jackson from Whitburn, triumphed in the 2007 X Factor series and achieved a number one hit with When You Believe.

Kerry said: "Being an X-Factor finalist opened so many doors for me."

 
"Since appearing on the programme, Kerry's career has gone from strength-to-strength."

West Lothian's musical talents don't end there...

Last year, West Lothian's Schools Brass Band won the prestigious Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships for the fourth consecutive year.

Armadale musician, Simon Reid, who makes up half of the rock duo, Reid and Stanners, was recently been invited to play at a special concert to celebrate the birthday of late rock 'n' roll legend Roy Orbison.

The areas hidden talents aren't just in music though. Current Miss West Lothian, Ashley Brown from Livingston is a finalist in the hit TV show, Britain's Next Top Model. The 20 year old made it to the final after the show?s judges were convinced she had what it takes to be the UK's next catwalk queen.

Ashley Brown, Miss West LothianAshley said: "Appearing on the show was the best experience of my life. I hope I can be a good role model for young people in West Lothian and also show that you can combine being a mum with having a successful career in modelling."

Provost Tom Kerr commented: "It's fantastic that West Lothian is being recognised nationally and internationally for its talented residents.

"I wish everyone the best of luck and success in their adventures, they are a credit to their families and their communities."
