Closing PDSP

Councillors, community representatives, council officers and trade unions have been invited to attend the final Policy Development and Scrutiny Panel (PDSP) on 11 November, at 8.30am at the Civic Centre.

The aim of the event is to bring together everyone who has participated in the council's Contingency Strategy debate via PDSPs.

Council Leader Peter Johnston said: "Since June we have held two rounds of PDSPs to discuss the officer-led proposals to save the council money over the coming years.  We have also considered suggestions from members of the public and staff. I gave a commitment at the end of September that we would bring everyone together to round-up the process and this meeting provides that opportunity.

"The consultation has been a huge undertaking by everyone involved.  I would like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone who participated in the discussion and helped us to scrutinise and question the suggestions.  We hope that as many of the PDSP participants as possible will be able to attend."

The Scottish Government is expected to set its budget in mid November, which will set out how much money is being passed to local authorities.  West Lothian Council will then receive its detailed grant allocation in December, setting out exactly how much it will receive.
