Church date for local library

A local church is providing a welcome refuge for a West Lothian library.

Fauldhouse Library is relocating to the nearby St. Andrew's Church hall, Main Street, from Monday, 7 April, while the new £7.2 million Fauldhouse Partnership Centre is being constructed.

Jim Walker, Executive member for Culture and Leisure, said: " I'd like to thank the Reverend Betty Smith and the St Andrew's church congregation for allowing us to share their church hall while the new partnership centre is being built.

" It will allow us to maintain important library services to the Fauldhouse community with a minimum of disruption."

The majority of services currently available at the library will be on offer at the new location, including free pc access, online request and renewal, and all current children?s activities such as Chatterbooks, Busy Bee's, and the Friday Club.

The hall will not be able to hold the same volume of books as the current library, so stock will be changed regularly.

Fax facilities will also be available from the nearby Fauldhouse Council Information Service (CIS) centre.

Library opening hours will be unchanged, including staying open until 8pm on Tuesdays, and it will now be open every Saturday morning instead of alternate weeks.

Visitors to the new library location can also enjoy tea, coffee and home baking at the church's regular coffee mornings every on Tuesday and Saturday.
