Livingston catchment plans approved

The Scottish Government has approved plans to change primary school catchment areas in central Livingston.

Ministers have given their consent to alterations to the existing catchment scheme to accommodate anticipated school populations.

The proposals have also been backed by her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIE), who said the changes would have overall advantages for children's education, which would significantly outweigh any disadvantages.

Under the new scheme move, part of the current Livingston Village primary catchment area will be moved to Peel Primary. Several prospective new housing sites in Livingston have also been rezoned.

Improvements to various travel to school routes will be carried out, including areas identified through parent consultation. New routes to catchment schools will also be created from the new housing development sites.
