New plan for registration services

West Lothian Council has approved a revised scheme for local registration services.

Extra staff will be employed to provide an enhanced service at the two main registration offices at Bathgate and Livingston.

A new appointment-based system will be introduced at Council Information Services offices at Linlithgow, Broxburn, Whitburn and West Calder.

" We are providing an improved service at our two main registration offices at Bathgate and Livingston," said Council Leader Peter Johnston.

" We will be making better use of our resources with the introduction of an appointment-based registration service at our other locations.  A dedicated professional will provide  face-to-face contact at each of these locations.

" We will also continue to develop the provision of some registration services by telephone and online. Members of the public will be able to use this facility in their own homes or in our Council Information Services offices and libraries with support from staff there if required."
