Bathgate Academy HMIE

A report from Her Majesty's Inspectors of Education (HMIE) has heaped praise on Bathgate Academy following the school?s inspection.

The inspection highlighted an amazing eight key strengths including: · Encouragement of pupil;  broader achievements

· The progress made by pupils with additional support needs

· The clear and comprehensive strategy for encouraging positive healthy living

· Very effective arrangements for supporting pupils and meeting learners' needs

· A well organised curriculum, with emphasis on innovation to meet the needs of pupils

· The clear sense of direction from the Head Teacher and the management team

· Robust and comprehensive quality assurance arrangements and a culture of self evaluation

· Strong links with the community

Councillor Andrew Miller, Executive member for Education, said: "We receive many good HMIE reports in West Lothian, but Bathgate Academy has been awarded with an extremely positive report - and can be regarded with one of the best ever received by the school. 

"I would like to offer my congratulations to all staff and pupils at Bathgate Academy;  and I am delighted that all their hard work has been recognised by HMIE."

Headteacher, Joe Boyd, added: "This report is a great endorsement of the excellent work of staff and pupils. Our teachers and support staff work very hard and creatively to educate and inspire youngsters to live a positive and successful life."

Bathgate Academy has a roll of 1023 pupils and serves the areas of Bathgate and surrounding districts. The inspection took place in June.
