Parental support - mentoring schemes

Mentoring is… ‘Help provided by one person to another in making significant

transitions’ (The European Mentoring Centre).

West Lothian Council believes that mentoring could be a powerful tool for

lifelong learning, inclusion, and citizenship for many of its inhabitants.

Mentoring can be a benefit to all who need it and we will initially concentrate

on 4-18 year olds.

The aim of mentoring in our schools is to:

  • Develop inclusion and wellbeing within transition periods
  • Raise attainment and achievement
  • Develop aspirations
  • Raise ambition

Further information on Pupils Mentoring can be found in the policy under 'Online Tools' on the right.
