Medal for kindness to pit ponies  

 We create temporary exhibitions to give our communities access to a variety of aspects of their history and culture. Our temporary exhibition programme runs at Armadale  Blackridge , Broxburn and Whitburn Community Museums alongside the permanent displays.

Many exhibitions also tour to  Linlithgow Library when the display case there is not required for community use.

Armadale Library and Museum     

A display by the History of Armadale Association with lots of fascinating facts about life, work and leisure in Armadale over the last 200 years and more.

*NEW* Armadale Primary School Dux board for the 1930s to the 1950s. The board was beautifully carved by Mr Slater, a local teacher, and shows the name of the boy and girl duxes. Come along and see if someone in your family is on the list!

20 October 2011 -  31 March 2012 West Lothian and the Forgotten War

Memories of the days of National Service focussing on those young conscripts who were sent to fight in the Korean War.

 

Blackridge Community Museum       

26 October 2011 - 31 March 2012: Making Tracks: Railways in West Lothian

A display celebrating the old railways of West Lothian and the new stations on the re-opened Airdrie-Bathgate line. The exhibition includes memories of the son of the last station master at Westcraigs.

 

Broxburn Community Museum

  

26 May - 5 November 2011  Strathbrock Stories

Stories of the communities of Broxburn and Uphall focussing on the heyday of the shale oil industry in the area.

 

Linlithgow Library

As a first step towards redisplaying the permanent collection at Whitburn Community Museum, see this display of selected recent donations spanning Whitburn's past from prehistory to the 1980s.
